Cheerleader of the Week - Hannah Y.

Cheerleader of the week - Hannah Y. diary

Colts Cheerleader of the Week October 10-21, 2011

Monday, October 10th

Happy Monday, Colts fans! My name is Hannah, and this is my rookie year as a Sweetheart of the Horseshoe. I am very excited to share this week with you, and I hope not to bore you too much. ;)

Mondays are usually the hardest days for me to wake up and get motivated, especially on Mondays after games! I woke up around 9 this morning (which may not sound early to you working people but, to a college student like myself, this is early)! The first thing I do in the mornings is eat breakfast. Then, I had to get ready for class and head over to the IUPUI campus, which, thankfully, is only about a ten-minute walk from my apartment. The only class I have on Mondays is Human Biology, and I just so happen to have this class with another CC, Britney G. She brought me Starbucks to class today – THANKS BRITNEY, I NEEDED THAT! After class, I went back to my apartment, had lunch, and then went to volunteer at the Goodwill Day Reporting facility in Indianapolis. For one of my other classes, Crime and Society, I observe the youths at this school for two hours a week and try to connect theories that we learn in class to the lives of these kids, who are required by the juvenile court system to attend this program. Watching these students interact with each other and their teachers has been interesting, and I have learned a lot by spending time with them for the past month. After I leave Day Reporting, I am off to the Indy Bike Hub YMCA, located downtown, to teach Zumba. I have been teaching Zumba for over a year now, and I love it! It's a great workout, but it's a ton of fun, too! After teaching my class, I'm pretty exhausted. I shower, eat dinner, and curl up in bed to catch up on the latest season of America's Next Top Model. Now, it's time for bed so that I can rest up for tomorrow…

Tuesday, October 11th

Hello again! Today was another "early" day for me, as I woke up around 8:30 this morning. I normally don't have to be on campus until 1:30pm, but this morning I participated in a test of a new product for one of the textbook companies on campus. All I did was try their at-home study product and take a couple of surveys, and for doing so I received a gift card as compensation! Easy! Afterwards, I went to my two lectures for the day (Crime and Society and Spanish Grammar) before heading to cheer practice. One of the other cheerleaders, Crystal, and I live in the same apartment complex, so we carpool to practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tonight we had practice at Curtain Call Dance Studio, our official dance studio sponsor. It's nice to go into the studio once in awhile so that we are able to practice our dances in front of mirrors, rather than practicing on the field at the complex. Tonight we learned two new routines that we are preparing for the first home game in November! Will you be there to see them? After practice I made a quick dinner, soup and grilled cheese, and then talked to my boyfriend Bradley on Skype. He is in the Kelley School of Business at IU, so we do not get to see each other as often as we would like, but it helps to see him via Skype! Well, that's all for today! Sleep tight, Colts fans!

Wednesday, October 12th

Rise and shine, Colts fans! Today was a slower-paced morning for me. I struggled to get out of bed and go to class, but I did! Afterwards, I drove to Carmel for a TRX and Reformer class with Sean at Core Pilates and Fitness! I always think that I won't sweat too much at TRX since it's not as intense as our cardio classes, but Sean always proves me wrong! Today we focused on several major areas of the body – abs, buttocks, legs, and arms. Wow! After TRX, I stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up a few groceries and then went back home to finish some homework. On Wednesday nights I have an evening class, Nutrition for Health Majors, which usually lasts approximately two and a half hours, but tonight the professor let us out almost an hour early! I told myself that I was going to make the most of this "extra" time by studying, but I got distracted looking at some of the photos from Sunday's game. You honestly do not want to know how much time I spend scouring the Internet for photos of our squad after games! Before bed, I Skyped with Bradley for a little bit, and then headed off to bed.

Thursday, October 13th

Why did I get up so early again today? Thursdays are supposed to be my day to sleep in, but no! Today I was up early because I knew that I would be having some visitors to my apartment, so I had to clean up the living room and my bedroom, as well as wash some dishes. Two senior girls from my high school came up from Bedford today to check out the apartments that I live in, and, also, to take a tour of the IUPUI campus. I really enjoyed showing them around and seeing how excited they are about graduating high school and starting college. It wasn't too long ago that I was in their shoes! After showing them around, I went to class and took one midterm exam, and then went to practice. Tonight we were back at the complex, and we had some exciting visitors! Our newest sponsor Indy Laser Hair Removal, sent representatives to talk to us about the treatments and services that they offer. They also gave away free samples AND a 6-session package for underarm hair removal! Unfortunately, I did not win any prizes but that's okay because I am going to get my underarm hair removed anyway! It is much more affordable than I had imagined, so I'm very excited to schedule an appointment. After the folks at Indy Laser Hair Removal talked with us, Sean from Core Pilates and Fitness tortured us with a running drill, followed by an abdominal workout. Thursdays are our nights to exercise with Sean, and he always pushes us to do our best! After working out with Sean, we learned two more dances for the November games. Learning multiple routines in one evening can be stressful at times, but that's what being a NFL cheerleader is all about! After tonight's practice, I made dinner and watched Jersey Shore with my roommate Alivia and our friend Cierra. PLEASE do not think less of me for watching Jersey Shore! It's one of my guilty pleasures! :) Now that Jerzday is coming to an end, I should try to get some sleep. Tomorrow I have a meeting with Theresa, our cheerleading coordinator. Goodnight to all!

Friday, October 14th

Happy Friday, Colts fans!! I LOVE Fridays because I have no classes, and I get to sleep in and relax all day! Usually this is the case, but today I had to be at the Colts Complex at 10am for a meeting with the cheer coordinator/coach, Theresa. She likes to have individual meetings with each of us girls every couple of months in order to check in on our personal progress and get our opinions on how things are going. After my meeting with Theresa, I made a pit stop at Sun Tan City, our official tanning sponsor, for a quick tan before heading to Core Pilates and Fitness for a cardio class. I enjoy going to cardio on Fridays whenever I can because the class is a lot smaller than it usually is on Saturdays, so we have more room, and I also feel pressure to work harder since there are less people for Sean to be watching! After cardio, I came back to my apartment and spent some time with my roommates. I didn't do much of anything else all day. I just relaxed and enjoyed the day.

Saturday, October 15th

Today leaves no time for relaxation, as I have a full schedule of events ahead! This morning, I had an appearance for Citizens Energy Corporation with another cheerleader, Mara. It was a great event because we got to be outside, and it was such a beautiful day. I also love being able to interact with fans and see their love and support for our Colts! After the appearance, I came back to the apartment and took a quick nap. Then, I packed my bags and met Crystal Anne, and the two of us drove to meet up with some of the other cheerleaders for a road-trip to Cincinnati. Sara, Lauren, Larissa, Erin, Crystal, and I all piled into Sara's car, and we made the 2-hour trip to meet up with some of our other squad-mates for the game on Sunday! Even though we were cramped, we had a great time on our trip getting to know each other better and talking about our plans for the evening. Once we arrived in Cincinnati, we checked into our hotel and then headed out to eat dinner in the city. It was great to be able to see the city, since I had only been there for dance competitions previously and had never been downtown. We had a great night just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. Tomorrow is game day, so we better get some rest! Goodnight, Colts fans!

Sunday, October 16th

It's game day in Cincinnati!! Are you supporting your Colts today? We sure are! The Sweethearts took over the city, as many more of the girls drove to meet us today in order to enjoy a game from the stands, rather than on the field! The Bengals stadium is outdoors, which was great to experience. Another exciting part of our day was watching the Ben-Gals cheerleaders and seeing how they perform on game day. It's interesting to see how each squad does things so differently! It was a beautiful day for football, and the game was close up to the very last quarter! Unfortunately, we couldn't come home with a win, but I think our boys are continuing to improve and are learning from each team that they play. After the game, we headed back to Indianapolis. Once Crystal and I got back to our apartments, I had some homework to finish, and then I wrapped up the night by talking to Bradley about our exciting weekends and watching an episode of America's Next Top Model. It won't be long before I crash from exhaustion, so I better get to bed. Thanks to all of you for taking the time to see what a week in my life is like! Have a wonderful week, and continue to believe in blue! Good things take time! GO HORSE!!
