Monday, November 23, 2009: Hello Colts Fans!!! I am really excited to spend the week with you! My Monday started with a 6:30 am workout. Early morning workouts are not the greatest way to start a Monday but boy, it sure does a body good! After working out I headed back to my apartment to shower and change for class. I am a student at Ball State University in Muncie where I am working on my degree in Human Resource Management. On the way to campus I took a side trip to Starbucks for a tall non-fat peppermint mocha….yummy. Today I had two business classes from 10:00 to noon. I am fortunate to have five other Colts Cheerleaders who also attend Ball State, so several times a week we try to meet for lunch. Today I met Larissa in the café to grab a quick salad. After lunch it was back to class for me. Since this is a short week because of Thanksgiving break, I went back to my apartment after class to start packing up my things and finish up some homework. I am looking forward to going back home to Evansville; it has been two months since my last visit!! I worked on homework until 10:00 pm and then it was off to bed!
Tuesday, November 24, 2009: Today is not a normal Tuesday for me. Because of the short school week today is a "Fruesday", we have our Friday classes on Tuesday! So my alarm went off this morning at 7:00 am, I showered and finished my packing so that I could leave Muncie as soon as I was done with class. On my way to campus I stopped at Starbucks for another tall non-fat peppermint mocha! There was definitely a different mood on campus this morning, everyone was anxious to finish classes and head home for a much needed break. After my last class at 2:00 pm I loaded my Mustang up and headed for home. Normally I have cheerleading practice on Tuesday's at Curtain Call Dance Studio in Indianapolis but because it is a holiday week our coach gave us the night off!! Woo Hoo!! From Muncie to Evansville is a five hour drive for me. Needless to say, I arrived home tired and HUNGRY!! My mom and dad took me to dinner and then it was back home to watch a movie, "The Ugly Truth" with my brother Bryce. It feels so good to be home!
Wednesday, November 25, 2009: There was no sleeping in for me today; I woke up at 6:00 am to start my busy day. Today I have a doctor's appointment and an eye exam scheduled. Luckily I had time in between to go to lunch with my Aunt Donna and cousin Lindsey. It was good catching up with them, it's been awhile since we have been able to sit down and talk. After lunch my mom and I went to the grocery and ran a few errands. We also made a trip to the mall to help another cousin of mine pick out a dress for her high school Christmas dance. It was a lot of fun. We had her decked out head to toe. By the time we returned home my oldest brother, Matt, had arrived. Finally, the whole family is together under the same roof!! We decided we would all go out and meet up with friends for drinks. We even convinced my parents to come along. In theory this was a good idea, but in hindsight it probably wasn't very wise to stay out until 1:00 am the night before Thanksgiving! It's off to bed for me, I don't think I could have crammed another thing in today.
Thursday, November 26, 2009: HAPPY THANKSGIVING COLTS FANS!! I overslept a little this morning and didn't wake up until 8:00 am. As I wandered into the kitchen my parents were busy getting the turkeys ready for deep frying. Deep fried turkey is my favorite! My mom and grandmother do all the other cooking. This year our Thanksgiving dinner consisted of turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn casserole, green beans, homemade dumplings, cole slaw, cranberry relish and yeast rolls!! For dessert we had pumpkin pie, pecan pie and chocolate cake. It was quite a feast! I have a lot to be thankful for this year. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in July, but thanks to a great team of doctors - Dr. Thole, Dr. Schymik and Dr. Zeigler (who are all huge Colts fans) she is cancer free and doing very well. Also two of my cousins had baby boys one week apart. Landon Thomas Howard is here in Evansville but Jackson Randall Elsass is in Ohio. I was able to meet Landon (see our very first picture together) but I will have to wait until Christmas to meet Jackson. Both boys are healthy and doing great! I love Thanksgiving! It is a day filled with food, family and football! It's off to bed early for me because tomorrow is the biggest shopping day of the year!
Friday, November 27, 2009: BLACK FRIDAY!! Yes, I am one of those crazy shoppers that get up at 3:00 am to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving! And boy it was CRAZY. Luckily my mom and I were able to get all the great bargains. We had all of our shopping done and were back home by 8:00 am. I hoped to be home for five days over the break but instead the whole family is heading back up to Indy today. My high school football team is playing in the 3A state championship game on Saturday!! We left Evansville at noon to head to my brother Matt's house in Indianapolis. We have two high schools from Evansville competing for a state title, Evansville Reitz and my old high school Reitz Memorial High School. We arrived in Indy at 4:00 pm and made plans to meet some friends and family for dinner. I am so proud and excited for the Tigers. Before I feel asleep I said a prayer to keep our players safe and strong and help lead them into victory!! Crossing all my fingers and my toes….GO TIGERS!
Saturday, November 28, 2009: Another hectic morning for me!! We had lots of friends and family staying at my brother's place so everyone was up early trying to eat, shower and dress for the big game today. We headed to Lucas Oil at 9:30 am. I wanted to go early to shop in the ProShop before the game. They have the biggest and best selection of Colts gear! It's exciting for me to be a spectator in Lucas Oil. I love being able to walk around the stadium and look at everything. I see something new every time I go! The 3A High School Championship game started at noon. My old high school, Reitz Memorial played West Lafayette for the State Championship. Unfortunately it just wasn't our year this year. But I am still very proud of all the players, Coach Hurley and the whole coaching staff for an amazing year!! It was really great watching them play and seeing some of my old teachers and friends at the game (I even was able to get a picture with the Memorial Cheerleaders!). After the game my parents headed back home to Evansville and I headed to a friend's house to watch a movie and just relax. I am heading to bed early tonight; it's been an exhausting week!
Sunday, November 29, 2009: Good Morning Colts Fans…its GAMEDAY!!! This morning my alarm went off at 8:00am. I got up, took a shower and went to church. After church, I had made plans to watch the game with some friends. I must say, my prayers had been answered, because the Colts won!!! I am so honored and proud to be a part of such a great organization. I spent the rest of the after noon catching up on homework and getting ready for another busy week. I am glad I got to share my week with all of you. Lets keep cheering the Colts on to victory. GO COLTS!!!
