Colts Defensive Lineman to Hold Second Annual Charity
Event
INDIANAPOLIS – For the past six seasons, Raheem Brock has been one of the most reliable players on the Colts' defensive line.
For the past several years, he has spent time giving back to his community.
He has given to the Indianapolis community, too.
And he will do so again this weekend.
Brock, a starting defensive lineman for the Colts since 2002, will hold the Raheem Brock Second Annual Celebrity Weekend around the Philadelphia area on Friday and Saturday.
Brock has done charitable work in the Philadelphia area for several years, and he kicked off the Raheem Brock Foundation last year with a bowling party.
This year, the event is expanded and will include celebrities from the Colts, the NFL and the NBA.
Colts players scheduled to participate include: Raheem Brock, Dwight Freeney, Darrell Reid, Bob Sanders, Freddy Keiaho, Robert Mathis, Josh Thomas and Dominic Rhodes. Philadelphia Eagles players Jason Davis and Tony Hunt are also scheduled.
Additional celebrities scheduled to participate include:
Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers), Jason McKie (Chicago Bears), Nick Harper (Tennessee Titans), Pierre Thomas (New Orleans Saints), Laiya St. Clair (100.3 The Beat), Spank (Comedian), Lance Johnstone (Retired NFL player) and James Ighedighbo (New York Jets).
On Friday, June 6, Brock and McKie – each of whom is a Temple University Alumni – will visit Fox Chase Elementary School, speaking to fifth graders about literacy and answering questions. They also will attend a birthday party and visit Shriners Hospital for Children.
Later that night, a student-athlete panel discussion will be held at Dobbins CTE auditorium with Brock, McKie, Thomas, Freeney, Keiaho, Harper, and Mathis.
The Raheem Brock Celebrity Footbowl will be held from 2-6 p.m. Saturday at the Franklin Mills Mall Dave and Busters.
Brock's Kids Inc. will also be hosting underprivileged youth from a local nonprofit to bowl and is working with adolescents from Teen Shop to give them firsthand experience in event planning. Proceeds from the event benefit Brock's Kids, Inc.
The Second Annual Raheem Brock Gemini Gala presented by Alizé will cap off the weekend at World Café Live on Saturday night.
