Titans QB Week 16

The Tennessee Titans on Wednesday announced quarterback Mason Rudolph will start in Week 16 against the Colts, with Will Levis acting as the backup quarterback.

The Titans benched Levis during their Week 15 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals after Levis threw three interceptions and lost a fumble. On the season, the second-year quarterback has thrown 12 interceptions to 12 touchdown passes this season.

Head coach Brian Callahan said the decision was a football decision adding he still believes in Levis' future.

"I'm trying to get this week done and win this week," Callahan said. "I still believe he can improve. Those things haven't changed, but for right now, this is the best decision for our football team."

Rudolph has started three games for the Titans this season, with two losses to the Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions and a win over the New England Patriots. He also entered in place of Levis against the Miami Dolphins and Bengals. On the season, Rudolph is 97-of-154 for 1,015 yards, six touchdowns, five interceptions and six sacks, with a passer rating of 81.5. On Sunday against the Bengals, Rudolph completed 80 percent of his passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

When the Colts played the Titans in Week 6 of the 2024 season, Joe Flacco led the Colts to a 20-17 win as wide receivers Josh Downs and Michael Pittman Jr. each scored a touchdown.

This marks the second time in Rudolph's career in which he has taken over for an underperforming quarterback; he replaced Pittsburgh Steelers' starting quarterback Kenny Pickett last December and held the starting role through the end of the season.
