ANTHONY GONZALEZ (on being selected by the Colts) Saturday, April 28, 2007
"It came as a surprise in the sense I hadn't spoken with anyone from the Colts except for one of the Colts. At the same time, Coach Tressel had mentioned to me that he ran into Coach Dungy at a function. He (Coach Tressel) had mentioned that they were interested. At the same time his whole process is so strange you don't take anything too seriously. You kind of take it with a grain of salt. Obviously I was hoping and praying it would happen. At the same time, with process, you don't want to get your hopes up too much."
ANTHONY GONZALEZ (on the immediate comparison to Brandon Stokley) Saturday, April 28, 2007
"The funny thing really about college, at least the way I approached it, I didn't have a whole lot of time to study the NFL. Obviously, I saw the Colts a lot because they were on national TV a lot. I really didn't have a lot of time to study them in depth. While I know a little bit, obviously, what the teams all about, what the offense is all about, to be honest, I'm not completely familiar with Brandon Stokley's game, but I've seen it enough to know that we do similar things."
ANTHONY GONZALEZ (on playing with Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne) Saturday, April 28, 2007
"In all honesty, like I said, you don't want to get your hopes up in a situation because you have very little control over the whole thing. But this morning I woke up and I said to my brother Nick 'Where am I going to go, give me one choice, where am I going?' He said, 'I don't know but Indy would be perfect.' 'You know what? You're absolutely right. Indy would be without a doubt the best place I could possibly go.' So when the phone rang I looked at my other brother Joe and I said, 'Hey, 317 (area code), who's that?' And he said Chicago, and I answered it and looked at him and said, 'you idiot it's not Chicago.' I answered and starting talking. It was a surreal moment. It really is."
ANTHONY GONZALEZ (on how special it is to be playing in the Midwest and playing for the Colts) Saturday, April 28, 2007
"That's part of why this is such a perfect fit for me, because my family is all close. It's an unbelievable offensive situation, unbelievable team, defending Super Bowl champs, great coaches, great players and have been told that I'm going to be exposed to great people, which is very important. It really is the total package and that's what is so exciting for myself and my family."
ANTHONY GONZALEZ (on bringing the altitude bed to Indy) Saturday, April 28, 2007
"I don't know that I'm going to do with that thing yet. I'm going to sleep in an altitude environment. The
