Dungy Bestselling Memoir to be Released in Softcover Version

INDIANAPOLIS - Tony Dungy for the past year has been a lot more than the Colts' head coach. He has been a best-selling author, too.

Now, his message may reach a bigger audience.

Dungy's memoir, Quiet Strength: The Principles, Practices and Priorities of a Winning Life – which twice last year reached No. 1 on the New York Times' hardcover, non-fiction list – will be released in trade softcover on June 1, Tyndale House Publishers announced Thursday.

The softcover edition includes a chapter updating the 2007 season. Written by Dungy with Nathan Whitaker and published by Tyndale House, there are currently more than 1,000,000 copies of the hardcover in print, making it one of the best-selling hardcover s-related books in history.

The new softcover edition will have a $14.99 suggested retail price.

"I heard from so many people who read Quiet Strength and told me that they wanted to pass it on to others," Dungy said. "The new softcover version has an additional chapter that covers the 2007 season, as well as the impact that the book has had.

"With a lower price than the hardcover, I am hopeful that the paperback version will get into the hands of even more people."

The hardcover version of Quiet Strength debuted at No. 2 on the New York Times hardcover nonfiction list on July 29, 2007, and moved to the top spot one week later. It reached the top spot on the list on two different occasions and spent 25 weeks in the top 10, the most weeks in history for a sports-related title.

According to Publishers Weekly, it was the eleventh best-selling hardcover nonfiction book released in 2007.

"We are very excited about the response to Quiet Strength," said Doug Knox, Senior Publisher at Tyndale House Publishers. "It's a hit with football fans, with its inside look at the NFL. But more than that, Tony Dungy challenges readers to consider what is really most important in life, and then inspires them to pursue a life of faith and purpose with fire and gusto.

"Many people are finding that Quiet Strength is a life-changing book and are buying copies for friends and family. The softcover edition will be in stores just in time for Father's Day gift giving.
