INDIANAPOLIS — It's time for the Week 3 version of the 2019 Colts Rookie Watch, where we take a look at the stats and highlights to track the progress of each rookie on the Indianapolis Colts' roster.
So, without further ado, here we go (snaps by position provided by Pro Football Focus):
» Ben Banogu, defensive end: Banogu, the Colts' second-round (49th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, had a career-best two tackles, including his first-ever tackle for loss, in last Sunday's victory over the Atlanta Falcons, as he played 23 total snaps, including 19 on defense and four on special teams. On the season, Banogu has three tackles (one for a loss), 0.5 sacks and two quarterback hits; he's played 58 total snaps — 53 along the defensive line, and five on special teams.
» Parris Campbell , wide receiver: Campbell, the Colts' second-round (59th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, caught a career-high three passes for 24 yards in last Sunday's victory over the Falcons. Campbell, who also had a 31-yard kickoff return in the contest, logged 35 snaps in all in the game, including 30 on offense (13 lined up in the slot and 17 lined up wide) and five on special teams. For the season, Campbell has five receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown, as well as one rushing attempt for seven yards; he also has five kickoff returns for 113 yards; his 22.6 average ranks seventh in the NFL. He's played 80 total snaps — 64 on offense and 16 on special teams.
» Hale Hentges, tight end: Hentges, who was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 3, was inactive for last Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Falcons; he's yet to make his NFL debut.
» Bobby Okereke, linebacker: Okereke, the Colts' third-round (89th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, made his first-career start last Sunday against the Falcons, finishing with a career-best eight tackles; he played 48 snaps in the box and six in the slot on defense, while logging six total special teams snaps, including five on the kickoff return and one on the punt coverage units. For the season, Okereke has nine tackles (one for a loss), one pass defensed and one special teams stop; he's played 103 total snaps — 80 on defense and 23 on special teams.
» E.J. Speed, linebacker: Speed, the Colts' fifth-round (164th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, got his first-ever defensive action in last Sunday's win over the Falcons, logging three total snaps, while also playing 11 snaps on special teams. For the season, Speed has played 25 total snaps, including three on defense and 22 on special teams — 10 with the kick coverage, nine with the kick return and three with the punt return units.
» Marvell Tell III, cornerback: Tell III, the Colts' fifth-round (144th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, was inactive for last Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Falcons; he's yet to make his NFL debut.
» Khari Willis, safety: Willis, the Colts' fourth-round (109th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, logged three total tackles in last Sunday's win over the Falcons in Indy, as he logged 27 defensive snaps (23 at free safety, three in the box and one at slot corner) and 12 special teams snaps. For the year, Willis, who ranks fifth on the team with 12 total tackles, has logged 108 snaps, including 72 on defense (51 at free safety, 20 in the box and one at slot corner) and 36 on special teams.
» Rock Ya-Sin, cornerback: Ya-Sin, the Colts' second-round (34th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, played 37 snaps — 27 on defense and 10 on special teams — and logged two tackles last Sunday in the victory over the Falcons. Ya-Sin, who has seven total tackles in two games, has logged a Colts rookie-high 147 snaps so far, including 117 on defense (105 at wide cornerback, eight in the box and four at slot cornerback) and 30 on special teams.
