INDIANAPOLIS —Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said Monday that quarterback Jacoby Brissett remains in the league's concussion protocol.
But Pagano quickly diminished any concerns that Brissett might not be ready by Sunday, when the Colts take on the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium.
"He should be OK," Pagano said.
Brissett was evaluated for — but not diagnosed with — a concussion Nov. 12 in the third quarter of the Colts' Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers and was able to return to the game. But the team announced that after the game, "in the locker room for several minutes, Brissett developed symptoms and is now in the concussion protocol."
The Colts are coming off their bye week and had a light practice Monday morning, in which Pagano said the team "did some stuff vs. Tennessee and then we did just Colts vs. Colts." The head coach said Brissett "took the lion's share of the snaps today," but declined to elaborate further about which stage in the concussion protocol Brissett is currently in.
"He's in the protocol," Pagano said.
Acquired in a trade just before the start of the regular season, Brissett took over as the Colts' starting quarterback by the team's Week 2 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
The second-year North Carolina State product has completed 213-of-349 pass attempts (61 percent) for 2,572 yards with nine touchdowns to five interceptions, and has also ran the ball 54 times for 237 yards and four scores.
