INDIANAPOLIS —Brandon Williams is already feeling better, not even one full day after suffering what appeared to be a very scary-looking head injury in front of a primetime audience.

The Indianapolis Colts tight end on Friday tweeted out a quick status update — as well as his gratitude for his many well-wishers:

Williams was injured on a Colts’ punt play with 14:11 left in the second quarter half of Thursday night's matchup against the Denver Broncos, when he appeared to collide helmets with Broncos outside linebacker Deiontrez Mount.

After being immobilized and treated on the field by team medical personnel for about 15 minutes, Williams was placed on a stretcher and carted off; he was then taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

The Colts initially announced that Williams suffered a head injury, and was not believed to have suffered an injury to his neck or spine; he was placed on the cart and strapped down for precautionary measures.

While at the hospital, Williams was said to be "awake and alert;" he had no neck pain and had movement in his limbs. He was able to even return to the stadium by the end of the game, where he continued to be under the care of team trainers and doctors, head coach Chuck Pagano said.

"It was a pretty scary thing … but he's back here," said Pagano, who confirmed Williams had been diagnosed with a concussion. "He's doing well."

Williams received an outpouring of support and well-wishes throughout the night on Thursday, including from his own teammates, who were hoping to hear some good news by the time the game was over.

"Yeah, obviously football is a contact sport and there are injuries and stuff, but when one of your teammates gets carted off on a back board—I'm hoping it's a precautionary thing and I'm hoping that he's doing all right," Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri said. "It's a scary thing for all of us and I'm sure it's scary for his family as well."
